Neksium 40 (esomeprazole 40mg)

Neksium 40 (esomeprazole) belongs to a class of drugs called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) that block the production of acid in the stomach. Proton pump inhibitors are used to treat conditions such as stomach and duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, all of which are caused by stomach acid. Esomeprazole, like other proton pump inhibitors, blocks the enzyme that produces acid in the stomach wall. Blocking the enzyme reduces acid production, allowing the stomach and esophagus to heal.
