Description
Urimax D Tablet MR (Tamsulosin (0.4mg) + Dutasteride (0.5mg) is a combination of two medicines that work in different ways to treat men with an enlarged prostate gland. It helps to relieve symptoms such as difficulty urinating or needing to go to the toilet more often. It is not used to prevent prostate cancer.
Treatment of Benign prostatic hyperplasia
When your prostate gland becomes enlarged, it can cause urinary problems such as difficulty passing urine and a need to go to the toilet frequently or urgently. It can also cause urine flow to be slower. If not treated, there is a risk that your urine flow will be blocked entirely. Urimax D Tablet MR is a combination of two medicines: dutasteride and tamsulosin. Dutasteride reduces the size of your prostate by blocking the production of a hormone that causes it to grow. Tamsulosin works by relaxing muscles in the bladder and prostate. Together they can rapidly relieve the symptoms and make it easier for you to urinate. However, it may take up to 6 months to notice the full benefit. Take this medicine exactly as prescribed for maximum benefits.
Safety & Precautions
- Urimax D Tablet MR may be taken with or without food but should be taken simultaneously each day.
- Your doctor will prescribe the dose most suitable for you.
- You should not miss doses, even if you’re feeling well, to get the foremost benefit and to treat your indications viably.
- It may take up to 4 weeks to notice an improvement in the symptoms but keep taking them frequently.
- Tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 4 weeks or if they get worse.
- ladies or children should not take Urimax D Tablet MR.
- Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have low blood pressure or liver or kidney disease.
- This medicine may not be suitable. It can also affect, or be affected by, other drugs. So let your doctor know all the other medicines you’re taking.
- You may be advised to wear a condom during sex if your partner is or may be pregnant.
- Your doctor may recommend getting your blood pressure checked frequently.
- Avoid drinking alcohol as it can cause excessive dizziness with this medicine.
SIDE Effects
Most side effects don’t require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them.
- Impotence.
- Decreased libido.
- Ejaculation disorder
- Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing)
- Breast enlargement in males.
- Breast tenderness in males.
- Dizziness.
